Further details and RecoveryPatients undergoing Rhinoplasty surgery often go home the same day or may stay a night in hospital, depending on the complexity of their rhinoplasty. Surgery is performed under a general anaesthetic. A thermoplastic external nose splint is usually worn for two weeks and removed by Mr Greensmith or his nurse. Dr Greensmith does not use nasal packs and feels they are unnecessary and add to discomfort. You will have some temporary bruising and most of the swelling resolves in the first week, but may take several weeks to settle. You can usually return to work about two weeks after surgery. You can usually resume light exercise by three weeks but refrain from more strenuous activity for at least four weeks. It is important to prepare for you recovery and allow time to rest and time of work and social activities.
